Make It Iconic, the Choose France campaign out to make an impression
The “Make It Iconic – Choose France” campaign is continuing its course with the production by the Government Information Service (SIG) of a new video clip to be launched internationally from 14 July next.
In late 2023, the SIG launched a campaign entitled “Make It Iconic – Choose France”, broadcast in five other countries (Germany, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, India and the United States). The campaign aimed to promote France’s attractiveness abroad through emblematic personalities and places. As the months go by, the campaign continues and evolves, as new personalities are revealed and come to represent France and embody, “each in their own way, a bold history and spirit”, to invite everyone “to experience, dare and share the audacity that makes France”.
The 8th edition of the Choose France summit, on Monday 19 May 2025, gave an audience of business leaders gathered in Versailles an opportunity to watch a preview of the latest video produced by the SIG in connection with this campaign. The film, which is built exclusively on archive images, presents iconic productions that “enjoy universal recognition and lasting admiration, often associated with values”. In one minute, it presents a succession of archive images backed by an updated version of Bizet’s Carmen as the soundtrack. The film is in English, subtitled in French.
When it was broadcast on YouTube – 6,400 views in a week – the French let loose with their comments: “And wouldn’t it have been more French in French?!”, “You couldn’t get more start-up nation. Frightening”, “The school system? Iconic. The French debt? Iconic. The state of hospitals? Iconic.”...
