Our 2026 international seminar in Rome
The next joint international seminar organised by the Venice Club and Cap’Com will take place on 6 and 7 May in Rome. The theme of this third edition will be “Synergies in communication on Europe: fostering civil society engagement and encouraging cooperation with the scientific community”.
It is at Sapienza University of Rome and at the European Parliament Liaison Office in Italy that the international experts invited by the French network and the Club of European Government Communicators will gather, with the support of the Department of European Affairs of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers and the European Parliament. Our counterparts from the Italian association Compubblica will also be in attendance. Following the sessions in Toulouse (2022) and Strasbourg (2024), we will therefore be holding our discussions outside France, to highlight the importance of cooperation and the need for public communicators to step outside their institutions and territories to meet those who face the same difficulties and challenges: scientists, the press, NGOs and academic professionals. Across borders, each other’s experiences can be inspiring, and building a shared professional culture at European level is becoming increasingly important. Over the course of the four sessions, we will address the following topics:
- sharing practical methods for cooperation with scientific communities and with EU institutions;
- raising awareness among young people (university projects, national forums, platforms linked to local or national public policy) in a changing digital environment;
- the preservation of ethical standards and the establishment of trustworthy communication (verification, threat management, AI impact);
- cooperation within the framework of a structured dialogue with European networks, based on realistic participatory strategies and facilitating proactive engagement at regional and local levels (notably through communication campaigns).
This event will be extensively covered and analysed in our pages.
